| Resum≠ | Moderation analysis tests whether the effect of a predictor X on an outcome Y changes with the level of a third variable W, the moderator. It is estimated within a regression framework through an interaction term X×W, popularised by Aiken & West (1991) and Hayes's PROCESS macro (2018). | Ordinary Least Squares is the classical linear regression method that explains a continuous outcome as a linear combination of predictors. It estimates the coefficients by minimising the sum of squared residuals, and under the Gauss-Markov assumptions these estimates are the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE). |
