贝叶斯社会网络分析将贝叶斯概率推断应用于关系数据，为网络参数设定先验分布，并用观测到的连接数据更新它们，从而得到结构特征、连接概率和潜在参与者位置的完整后验分布。它能够对网络模型进行原则性的不确定性量化，在数据稀疏、部分观测或存在测量误差时尤其有价值。
