闪电跳跃是指在冰雹、强降雨和龙卷风等恶劣天气发生前，闪电活动（每单位时间闪电次数）的快速增加。该现象通过卫星或地面闪电探测网络观测，是实时恶劣天气预警的操作性诊断工具。
