摘要The SGRQ is a 76-item disease-specific quality-of-life instrument designed to measure health status in patients with chronic respiratory disease, particularly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Developed by Jones and colleagues at King's College London in 1991, it has become the gold standard for assessing functional impact and symptom burden in respiratory populations. The SGRQ is widely used in clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and routine respiratory care to track changes in patient-reported outcomes. The BCS is a brief, symptom-focused assessment tool measuring the frequency and severity of three cardinal respiratory symptoms: breathlessness (dyspnea), cough, and sputum production. Developed in cardiopulmonary research as a pragmatic measure of disease burden in chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the BCS provides rapid, patient-centered tracking of respiratory symptom trajectories. Unlike comprehensive quality-of-life questionnaires, the BCS concentrates solely on symptom phenotype, making it ideal for routine monitoring and longitudinal disease surveillance in busy clinical settings.
