摘要The Self-Efficacy for Appropriate Medication Use Scale (SEAMS) is a brief self-report measure designed to assess patients' confidence in their ability to manage medications appropriately across diverse contexts and challenges. Grounded in Bandura's self-efficacy theory, the SEAMS evaluates patients' perceived capacity to adhere to medication regimens despite potential barriers—forgetfulness, side effects, cost constraints, complexity, or changes in routine. The scale has demonstrated strong predictive validity for medication adherence and clinical outcomes in hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and other chronic diseases, making it valuable for identifying patients with low medication management confidence who need additional support.The Medication Understanding and Use Self-Efficacy Scale (MUSE-S) is a brief, patient-centered self-report measure assessing both knowledge and confidence regarding medication use. Developed by Kripalani and colleagues at Emory University in 2009, the MUSE-S evaluates whether patients understand their medications (what they are for, how to take them, important side effects) and feel confident managing them in daily life. This dual focus on knowledge and self-efficacy makes the MUSE-S particularly valuable for identifying education gaps, assessing health literacy barriers to medication adherence, and evaluating outcomes of medication counseling or education interventions.
