The scale recognizes that HD burden extends beyond neurological deficits to profound impacts on identity, family relationships, and existential well-being. | The NMSS is a comprehensive 30-item scale designed to assess the prevalence and impact of non-motor symptoms (NMS) in Parkinson's disease. Developed by Chaudhuri and colleagues in 2007, it addresses the reality that non-motor features—sleep disorders, mood disturbances, autonomic dysfunction, cognitive impairment, and pain—often cause greater disability and suffering than motor symptoms in many PD patients.
