引力波匹配滤波
匹配滤波是一种信号处理技术,用于通过将探测器数据与理论波形模板进行相关来探测引力波。当两个大质量天体(黑洞、中子星)合并时,它们会发出引力波,这些引力波穿过地球,在LIGO和Virgo等激光干涉仪中产生微小的畸变。哈里·奈奎斯特(Harry Nyquist)形式化的匹配滤波技术能够最优地从噪声中提取这些信号,从而探测到数十亿光年外的合并事件。
