Bayes thực nghiệm
Bayes thực nghiệm (EB) là một chiến lược ước lượng, được giới thiệu bởi Herbert Robbins vào năm 1956 và được phát triển thành các ước lượng co rút (shrinkage estimators) thực tế bởi Bradley Efron và Carl Morris vào năm 1973, trong đó các siêu tham số (hyperparameters) của phân phối tiên nghiệm (prior distribution) được ước lượng từ dữ liệu quan sát được thông qua khả năng hợp lý biên (marginal likelihood) thay vì được chỉ định trước. Phân phối hậu nghiệm (posterior) thu được vẫn giữ cấu trúc Bayes nhưng thay thế các siêu tham số chủ quan bằng các siêu tham số dựa trên dữ liệu, kết nối giữa sự co rút tần suất (frequentist shrinkage) và suy luận Bayes đầy đủ.
