การทดสอบแบบสุ่มกลุ่ม A/B คือการออกแบบการทดลองที่กลุ่มที่สมบูรณ์ (กลุ่ม) เช่น เมือง โรงเรียน ชุมชนเครือข่ายสังคม หรือกลุ่มผู้ใช้แอป จะถูกสุ่มกำหนดเป็นหน่วยเดียวไปยังเงื่อนไขการรักษา (A) หรือกลุ่มควบคุม (B) แทนที่จะสุ่มผู้ใช้หรือผู้เข้าร่วมแต่ละราย แนวทางนี้ใช้เมื่อผลของการรักษาจะรั่วไหลระหว่างบุคคลหากมีการสุ่มระดับบุคคล หรือเมื่อการแทรกแซงต้องดำเนินการในระดับกลุ่ม
