การจัดสรรกำลังผลิตเชิงเศรษฐศาสตร์ (Economic Dispatch - ED) คือกระบวนการจัดสรรกำลังผลิตไฟฟ้าอย่างเหมาะสมในหมู่เครื่องกำเนิดไฟฟ้าที่เดินเครื่องอยู่ เพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการใช้ไฟฟ้าด้วยต้นทุนเชื้อเพลิงที่ต่ำที่สุด Kirchmayer ได้นำเสนอ ED ในปี ค.ศ. 1958 ซึ่งเป็นปัญหาการหาค่าเหมาะสมแบบเรียลไทม์พื้นฐานที่ได้รับการแก้ไขทุก ๆ สองสามนาทีในการปฏิบัติการระบบไฟฟ้า แตกต่างจากการตัดสินใจเดินเครื่อง/หยุดเครื่อง (Unit Commitment) ED จะสมมติว่าเครื่องกำเนิดไฟฟ้าได้ถูกเดินเครื่องแล้ว และมุ่งเน้นไปที่การแบ่งโหลดอย่างประหยัดที่สุด การตอบสนองที่รวดเร็วของ ED ช่วยให้การปฏิบัติการโรงไฟฟ้าแบบเรียลไทม์มีประสิทธิภาพ
