Uwiano wa Uhamishaji wa Usumaku (MTR) ni njia ya MRI inayopima ubadilishanaji wa usumaku kati ya protoni za maji huru na protoni zilizofungamana na makromolekuli (hasa lipidi za mielini na protini). Ilianzishwa na Wolff na Balaban mnamo 1989, MTR huakisi maudhui ya makromolekuli ya tishu na ni nyeti hasa kwa mielini, ikitoa makadirio yasiyo ya uvamizi ya msongamano wa mielini.
