Känslighetsanalysbaserad ändamålsenlig urval utvidgar konventionell ändamålsenlig urval genom att systematiskt testa om nyckelresultat eller fallvalbeslut förändras när inkluderingskriterierna, urvalslogiken eller gränsförhållandena ändras. Den tillämpar logiken för känslighetsanalys – standard inom kvantitativ forskning och systematiska översikter – på kvalitativt fallval, vilket ger forskare explicita bevis för hur robusta deras ändamålsenliga val är för rimliga alternativa urvalsregler.
