| Zhrnutie≠ | Threshold regression is a nonlinear, regime-switching model in which the regression parameters take different values above and below an estimated threshold value of a threshold variable. The sample-splitting and threshold-estimation framework was developed by Bruce E. Hansen (2000) and is widely used for time-series and panel data with structural breaks and regime-dependent relationships. | Ordinary Least Squares is the classical linear regression method that explains a continuous outcome as a linear combination of predictors. It estimates the coefficients by minimising the sum of squared residuals, and under the Gauss-Markov assumptions these estimates are the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE). |
