RezumatWeighted ego network analysis examines the personal network of a focal actor (the ego) and incorporates tie strength — measured as interaction frequency, closeness, or resource exchange — as edge weights. By moving beyond simple presence or absence of a tie, it captures how much each relationship matters and how those varying strengths shape outcomes such as social support, information access, or influence.Betweenness centrality, formalized by Linton C. Freeman in 1977, measures how often a node lies on the shortest path connecting every other pair of nodes in a network. High-betweenness nodes act as bridges or brokers: removing them fragments the network into disconnected components more severely than removing any other nodes.
