RezumatThe Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology is a 16-item assessment designed by A. John Rush and colleagues to efficiently measure the severity of depressive symptoms in adults. Published in Biological Psychiatry in 2003, the QIDS exists in both self-report (QIDS-SR) and clinician-rated (QIDS-C) versions. It was developed as a brief alternative to the longer Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology (IDS, 30 items) while maintaining comprehensive coverage of DSM-IV depressive symptoms. The QIDS has become a standard outcome measure in treatment research, particularly in large comparative effectiveness trials. The Beck Depression Inventory-II is a 21-item self-report instrument designed to assess the presence and severity of depressive symptoms in adolescents and adults. Originally published by Aaron T. Beck in 1961 and revised significantly in 1996, the BDI-II is one of the most widely used depression assessment tools in clinical psychology and psychiatry. It is copyrighted and distributed by Pearson Assessments, and measures both cognitive and somatic symptoms of depression across a two-week timeframe.
