ResumoWeakly Supervised Object Detection (WSOD) trains object detectors using only image-level labels — indicating which object classes appear in an image — without requiring costly bounding-box annotations. Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) formulations allow the model to discover the likely location of each object class from classification signals alone, dramatically reducing annotation cost. The Vision Transformer (ViT), introduced by Dosovitskiy and colleagues in 2021, splits an image into fixed-size patches, treats those patches as a sequence, and applies the Transformer self-attention mechanism to image classification. Given enough training data, it surpasses convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
