| Resumo≠ | The Oral Health Literacy Scale (OHLS) is an assessment tool measuring patients' ability to understand, process, and act on oral health information. Originally developed as part of health literacy research by Rushton and colleagues, the OHLS evaluates comprehension of dental terminology, oral disease prevention concepts, and informed consent for dental treatment. The OHLS bridges communication gaps in dental care, identifying patients who may have difficulty understanding clinical explanations and treatment options, and enabling tailored patient education. | The OHIP-14 is a 14-item, validated instrument measuring the impact of oral conditions on quality of life and functional well-being. Developed by Slade in 1997, it is a shortened form of the original 49-item OHIP and has become the gold standard for assessing oral health-related quality of life in clinical research and practice. It captures patient-centred outcomes across functional, psychological, and social dimensions. |
