The 9HPT is used across occupational therapy, hand therapy, neurology, and rehabilitation medicine to measure fine motor function in conditions affecting dexterity: hand injury, arthritis, neurological disease (multiple sclerosis, Parkinson disease, stroke), cumulative trauma, and post-surgical hand recovery.
