Dendrochronologie Methode
Dendrochronologie is de wetenschap van het dateren en analyseren van boomringen om klimatologische omstandigheden, chronologieën en boomgroeipatronen uit het verleden te reconstrueren. Dendrochronologie, gepionierd door Andrew Ellicott Douglass in het begin van de twintigste eeuw en geformaliseerd door Fritts en collega's, maakt precieze datering van historische houtmonsters mogelijk en genereert klimaatrecords van millennia-lange duur, waardoor het onmisbaar is geworden voor paleoklimatologie, archeologie en bos-ecologie.
