Ruimtelijke Bayesiaanse inferentie past Bayesiaanse hiërarchische modellering toe op gegevens geïndexeerd door geografische locatie. Door gestructureerde ruimtelijke priors te plaatsen op locatie-specifieke willekeurige effecten, leent het model informatie van naburige regio's of punten, wat resulteert in gladde, met onzekerheid gekwantificeerde kaarten van elke ruimtelijk variërende uitkomst — ziektecijfers, vervuilingsniveaus, soortendichtheid, of milieurisico's.
