Algoritma Genetik Berasaskan Agen (ABGA) membahagikan populasi algoritma genetik merentasi rangkaian agen berautonomi, setiap satunya mengekalkan sub-populasi tempatan dan mengembangkannya secara bebas. Agen secara berkala bertukar individu (migrasi) berdasarkan peraturan kedekatan atau komunikasi, membolehkan penerokaan selari ruang carian sambil mengekalkan kepelbagaian populasi dan mengelakkan penumpuan awal.
