KopsavilkumsInformation extraction (IE) is a natural-language-processing task that converts unstructured text into structured information — such as events, relations, and attributes — so that facts buried in free-form documents become machine-readable records. The task was consolidated in early surveys by Cowie and Lehnert (1996) and later by Grishman (2012).Intent detection is a natural-language-understanding task that classifies the purpose behind a user utterance — such as making a reservation, asking for information, or filing a complaint — into one of a set of predefined intent classes. It is a core NLU component of conversational interfaces and customer-service automation systems, drawing on the benchmarks of Larson et al. (2019) and Casanueva et al. (2020).
