概要The Dogmatism Scale, developed by Milton Rokeach (1960), measures dogmatism, the degree to which a person's belief system is closed, rigid, and resistant to change, regardless of its ideological content. Conceived as an ideology-free alternative to the authoritarianism research of the 1950s, it captures closed-mindedness on the left as well as the right, and was later modernized by Altemeyer (2002).The Need for Cognitive Closure Scale, developed by Webster and Kruglanski (1994), measures a stable individual difference in the desire for a firm, definite answer to a question and an aversion to ambiguity and uncertainty. High need for closure is a key epistemic-motivation construct in political psychology, linked to conservatism, prejudice, intolerance of dissent, and resistance to belief change.
