डेटाबेस विभाजन बड़े टेबलों को कई भौतिक भंडारण इकाइयों या सर्वरों में विभाजित करने की एक तकनीक है ताकि प्रदर्शन और मापनीयता में सुधार हो सके। वितरित डेटाबेस के संदर्भ में विकसित, विभाजन व्यक्तिगत प्रश्नों को डेटा के छोटे उपसमूहों तक पहुँचने की अनुमति देता है, जिससे I/O कम होता है और डेटा बढ़ने पर क्षैतिज स्केलिंग सक्षम होती है।
