שיטת דנדרוכרונולוגיה
דנדרוכרונולוגיה היא המדע של תיארוך וניתוח טבעות עצים לשחזור תנאי אקלים בעבר, כרונולוגיות ודפוסי צמיחה של עצים. הדנדרוכרונולוגיה, שפותחה לראשונה על ידי אנדרו אליקוט דאגלס בתחילת המאה העשרים ופורמלה על ידי פריטס ועמיתיו, מאפשרת תיארוך מדויק של דגימות עץ היסטוריות ומייצרת רשומות אקלים באורך אלפי שנים, והפכה לחיונית לפליאוקלימטולוגיה, ארכיאולוגיה ואקולוגיית יערות.
