הפרדת רקע היא טכניקת עיבוד וידאו המפרידה אובייקטים נעים מקדימה מרקע סטטי או משתנה לאט, על ידי השוואת כל פריים למודל רקע שנלמד או הוערך. טכניקה זו, הנמצאת בשימוש נרחב במעקב וידאו וזיהוי תנועה, מאפשרת זיהוי אובייקטים מקדימה באופן איתן גם בסצנות מורכבות עם שינויי תאורה.
