שיטת השליטה הסינתטית הבייסיאנית מעריכה את ההשפעה הסיבתית של התערבות על יחידה מטופלת אחת על ידי בניית קונטרפקטואל הסתברותי מקומבינציה משוקללת של יחידות תורמות שלא טופלו. בניגוד ל-SCM קלאסי, היא מציבה התפלגות א-פריורית על המשקולות הסינתטיות, ומניבה רווחי אי-ודאות פוסטריוריים מלאים למסלול הקונטרפקטואלי ולהשפעת הטיפול בכל נקודת זמן לאחר ההתערבות.
