איזון אנטרופיה בייסיאני מרחיב את גישת איזון האנטרופיה הקלאסית — המחדשת יחידות בקרה כך שמומנטי המשתנים שלהן יתאימו בדיוק לקבוצה המטופלת — על ידי הטמעת חידוש משקלים זה במסגרת בייסיאנית. הדבר מאפשר לחוקרים לשלב אמונות קודמות לגבי נטיות הטיפול, להפיץ אי-ודאות פרמטרית לאומדן הסיבתי הסופי, ולקבל מרווחי סבירות (credible intervals) במקום רק מרווחי סמך קלאסיים.
