RésuméElastic net regression combines the L1 (lasso) and L2 (ridge) penalties into a single regularized regression framework. Controlled by a mixing parameter alpha and a shrinkage strength lambda, it can simultaneously select variables and handle correlated predictors — overcoming key limitations of pure lasso and pure ridge applied alone.Ordinary Least Squares is the classical linear regression method that explains a continuous outcome as a linear combination of predictors. It estimates the coefficients by minimising the sum of squared residuals, and under the Gauss-Markov assumptions these estimates are the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE).
