| Resumen≠ | Sequential case-focused mixed methods design combines the depth of case study methodology with the phased data-collection logic of sequential mixed methods. Quantitative and qualitative data are gathered in distinct, ordered phases — either QUAN then QUAL or QUAL then QUAN — and both strands are anchored within one or more bounded cases. The design is suited to research questions that require understanding how and why phenomena unfold within specific real-world contexts. | Case study research is a qualitative research design that investigates a specific phenomenon, individual, group, organisation, or event in depth within its real-world context. Systematised by Robert K. Yin in 1984, it supports single-case and multiple-case designs and draws on multiple data sources — interviews, observation, documents, and artefacts — to build a rich, contextualised account of a bounded unit. |
