Orofacial Esthetic Scale (OES)
The Orofacial Esthetic Scale (OES) is a multi-item instrument measuring perception of esthetic quality of teeth, smile, and facial appearance in relation to oral conditions. Developed across multiple research groups in orthodontic and restorative dentistry, the OES quantifies patient and clinician satisfaction with dental esthetics, guiding treatment planning and outcome assessment in cosmetic and orthodontic interventions. The OES captures the patient-centered esthetic perspective, complementing objective dental measurements and enabling assessment of esthetic outcome success.
