RAFSI (Ranking of Alternatives through Functional mapping of criterion sub-intervals into a Single Interval) is a ranking multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method introduced by Žižović, M., Pamučar, D., Albijanić, M., Chatterjee, P., Pribićević, I. in 2020. It turns a decision matrix of alternatives scored on multiple criteria into a structured, reproducible result.

When to use it
K_i ∈ [1, 2n+1]. Higher K means better. The functional mapping to [1, 2n+1] ensures that rank reversal cannot occur when alternatives are added or removed — unlike TOPSIS, EDAS, and most other MCDM methods. Ideal I* and anti-ideal I° must be set by the decision-maker to reflect the full feasible range of each criterion.
Strengths & limitations
- Follows a transparent, reproducible computational procedure that can be audited step by step.
- Handles multiple criteria of differing scales and units within a single decision matrix.
- Assumes full compensation — a strong score on one criterion can offset a weak score on another.
