Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) er et paradigme for netværksarkitektur, der adskiller kontrolplanet (routingbeslutninger) fra dataplanet (pakkevideresendelse). Introduceret af McKeown et al. (2008) med OpenFlow, muliggør SDN netværksprogrammerbarhed ved at centralisere kontrollogikken i softwarebaserede controllere, der styrer videresendelsesadfærden for simple programmerbare switche. SDN har transformeret netværksoperationer og muliggjort hurtig serviceudrulning, trafikstyring og skyintegration. Det er nu fundamentalt i datacentre og serviceudbydernetværk.
