Shewhart-regulativkort (X-streg / R)
Shewhart-regulativkortet, opfundet af Walter Shewhart hos Bell Labs i 1920'erne og beskrevet i hans bog fra 1931, er det grundlæggende værktøj inden for statistisk proceskontrol. Det plotter en processtatistik — typisk undergruppens gennemsnit (X-streg) og spændvidde (R) — over tid mod en centerlinje og tre-sigma regulativgrænser, der adskiller den naturlige fællesårsagsvariation, der er iboende i en stabil proces, fra specielle årsagsvariationer, der signalerer, at noget har ændret sig og kræver undersøgelse.
