Hoek-Browns kriterium for brud

Hoek-Browns kriterium, udviklet af Evert Hoek og E. T. Brown fra 1980, er et empirisk brudkriterium, der forudsiger klippemassers forskydningsstyrke som funktion af indeslutningstrykket. Det tager højde for klippekvalitet (via Geological Strength Index, GSI) og forbinder således laboratoriebaseret klippemekanik med feltadfærd. Kriteriet anvendes bredt inden for minedrift til stabilitet af skråninger, søjledesign og spændingsanalyse.
