Analyse af populationslevedygtighed

Analyse af populationslevedygtighed (PVA), introduceret af Shaffer (1981), estimerer sandsynligheden for, at en population vil bestå over en given tidsperiode under specificerede forhold. PVA kombinerer demografiske modeller (Leslie-matricer, IPM'er) med stokastisk simulering for at projicere populationstendenser og kvantificere udryddelsesrisiko. Dette gør det muligt for bevaringsplanlæggere at vurdere, om en population sandsynligvis vil bestå, evaluere forvaltningsscenarier og estimere den mindste levedygtige populationsstørrelse (MVP) for langsigtet overlevelse. PVA er et beslutningsstøtteværktøj, ikke en præcis forudsigelse.
