Diffie-Hellman nøgleudveksling

Diffie-Hellman nøgleudvekslingen, opfundet af Whitfield Diffie og Martin Hellman i 1976, er en fundamental protokol til etablering af en delt hemmelighed over en usikker kommunikationskanal. To parter, der aldrig tidligere har kommunikeret, kan bruge Diffie-Hellman til at blive enige om en symmetrisk krypteringsnøgle, som en aflytter ikke let kan udlede, selv efter at have observeret alle offentlige udvekslinger.
