ResuméThe Diffie-Hellman key exchange, invented by Whitfield Diffie and Martin Hellman in 1976, is a foundational protocol for establishing a shared secret over an insecure communication channel. Two parties who have never previously communicated can use Diffie-Hellman to agree on a symmetric encryption key that an eavesdropper cannot easily derive, even after observing all public exchanges. The Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol is the cryptographic standard that secures web communication and email transmission. Evolved from SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), TLS provides authentication, encryption, and integrity protection for data in transit. The protocol combines public-key cryptography (RSA, ECDH) for key agreement, symmetric encryption (AES) for bulk data, and digital signatures (SHA-256) for authentication.
