Deep Packet Inspection

Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) er en netværkstrafikanalyse-teknik, der undersøger hele pakke-payloaden ud over header-information for at identificere, klassificere og potentielt kontrollere datatrafik. Udviklet i 1990'erne til netværksovervågning og -styring analyserer DPI pakkeindhold for at detektere protokoller, applikationer og mønstre, hvilket muliggør sikkerhedsovervågning, styring af servicekvalitet og indholdsfiltrering. DPI anvendes bredt af internetudbydere, virksomheder og sikkerhedsorganisationer til at overvåge netværkstrafik og håndhæve politikker.
