Instead of fitting all the data at once, it repeatedly samples small subsets, fits a candidate model, and keeps the model that wins the largest consensus of agreeing points. | The Theil-Sen estimator is a robust linear regression method that estimates the slope as the median of the slopes computed over all pairs of data points.
