Trafikflow (LWR-model)

Lighthill-Whitham-Richards (LWR) modellen er en makroskopisk trafikflowmodel, der behandler trafik som en komprimerbar væske, idet den anvender bevarelse af køretøjer og en flow-densitetsrelation. Modellen, der blev introduceret uafhængigt af Lighthill og Whitham (1955) samt Richards (1956), forudsiger udbredelse af trafikbølger, dannelse af trængsel og flaskehalsadfærd på motorveje.
