Den maskinlærings-augmenterede panel-eventstudie udvider den klassiske panel-eventstudie ved at erstatte eller supplere parametriske kontrafaktiske modeller med maskinlæringsestimatormodeller — såsom LASSO, random forests eller matrix completion — for at konstruere mere nøjagtige præ-event baselines, detektere overtrædelser af parallelle trends og producere valide kausale effektestimater på tværs af flere post-event perioder.
