Kolo pro změnu chování (BCW)
Behavior change is hard. A doctor knows they should prescribe antibiotics sparingly, but habit and routine pressure them to prescribe broadly. A patient knows they should take their medication, but complexity and side effects discourage adherence. Willpower or education alone does not work. The Behaviour Change Wheel acknowledges that behavior is determined by three factors: Capability (can they do it? knowledge, skills), Opportunity (do they have time, resources, social support?), and Motivation (do they want to do it? goals, beliefs, emotions). To change behavior, you must address whichever of these three (COM) is the bottleneck. The BCW then asks: which intervention functions (persuasion, training, restructuring workflows, incentives) best address that barrier? And which policy categories (regulations, service provision, fiscal measures, social planning) support that intervention? This systematic, diagnostic-to-intervention mapping prevents the common mistake of offering education when the real barrier is opportunity (lack of time) or motivation (misaligned incentives).
