| Resum≠ | Subsynchronous Resonance (SSR) is a phenomenon where frequencies below the synchronous frequency (50/60 Hz) are amplified in power systems, causing oscillations that can damage turbines. First observed in Bushland, Texas in 1977, SSR results from interaction between series-compensated transmission lines and synchronous generators.
