The researcher uses their own lived experience as primary data to interrogate power structures, systemic inequalities, and cultural norms — treating the personal not merely as testimony but as a site for political and theoretical critique. It is widely used to center the voices of marginalized groups and challenge dominant social narratives. | Critical ethnography is a qualitative research approach that combines sustained fieldwork immersion with explicit critical theory to examine how power, inequality, and ideology shape the lived experiences of marginalised communities.
