La planificació del reg amb ETo és un flux de balanç hídric per determinar quan i quant regar basant-se en l'evapotranspiració de referència (ETo), les propietats del sòl i la demanda d'aigua del cultiu. Estandarditzat per la FAO en l'equació de Penman-Monteith i àmpliament adoptat a nivell mundial, aquest mètode permet un ús eficient de l'aigua en l'agricultura de regadiu.
