يختار الاختبار التكيفي المحوسب باستخدام نموذج راش الفقرات في الوقت الفعلي بناءً على تقدير قدرة كل مختبر المتطور، بحيث يتلقى كل شخص اختبارًا معايرًا بدقة لمستوى كفاءته. والنتيجة هي أداة قياس أقصر وأكثر كفاءة لا تفقد شيئًا من دقة الاختبار ذي الشكل الثابت الكامل.
