Survivorship bias

A logical error and selection bias that occurs when analysis focuses only on units that passed a selection process, ignoring those that did not survive or were eliminated. Studying only existing successful firms or returning aircraft leads to systematically misleading conclusions. Abraham Wald's WWII aircraft armor analysis is the canonical historical example.
