Student's t-test

A parametric test for comparing means when the population variance is unknown, relying on the t-distribution. Developed by William Gosset under the pseudonym 'Student' in 1908. Variants include one-sample, independent two-sample, and paired tests. Valid for small samples under normality; robust to mild violations with larger samples via the central limit theorem.
