Statistical significance

The determination that a test result is unlikely to have occurred by chance alone, assessed by comparing the p-value to the pre-set significance level α. A result is statistically significant when p < α. Statistical significance does not imply practical or clinical importance; effect size and context must also be considered for meaningful interpretation.
